Michele Caprio
Michele is Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at The University of Manchester. He obtained his PhD in Statistics from Duke University, and worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Computer and Information Science of the University of Pennsylvania.
His general interest is probabilistic machine learning, and in particular the use of imprecise probabilistic techniques to investigate the theory and methodology of uncertainty quantification in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Recently, he won the IJAR Young Researcher and the IMS New Researcher Awards, and he was elected member of the London Mathematical Society.
-
Jason Hartford
Jason Hartford is a Dame Kathleen Ollerenshaw Fellow at the University of Manchester. He also jointly holds an industry research scientist role at Valence Labs, where he leads the causality focused research unit. Previously, he was a post-doc with Yoshua Bengio at Université de Montréal. Before joining Mila, he completed his PhD at the University of British Columbia with Kevin Leyton-Brown. He works on developing new techniques for causal representation learning and causal inference.
-
Samuel Kaski
Samuel is Professor of Artificial Intelligence at The University of Manchester and at Aalto University, Helsinki where he leads the Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence Research FCAI and ELLIS Unit Helsinki.
In July 2021, Samuel was appointed among the first Turing Artificial Intelligence (AI) World-Leading Research Fellows. The fellowships, named after AI pioneer Alan Turing, are part of the UK’s commitment to further strengthen its position as a global leader in the field.
